#PopeFancis has never defended himself against the accusations (for example at the time of the dictatorship or previously). Nor does he boast merit (as in the case of aid to those persecuted by the dictatorship) because he *knows* that sooner or later the thruth will surface.

One point worth noting for clarity: Vigano does not say that Francis had knowledge of McCarrick’s alleged abuse of minors. While that may seem like a small point, it is not immaterial.
